Heavy Quark Fragmentation into Baryons in a Quark-diquark Model
In the framework of the nonrelativistic QCD and a quark-diquark model of baryons we have obtained the fragmentation functions for heavy quark to split into spin-1/2 and spin-3/2 double heavy baryons. It was predicted the production rates as well as the shape of the energy spectra for the cc− and bc−baryons in the region of Zo peak at LEP collider.
متن کاملHeavy baryons in the quark–diquark picture
We describe heavy baryons as bound states of a quark and a diquark. For this purpose we derive the Faddeev equation for baryons containing a single heavy quark from a Nambu– Jona-Lasinio type of model which is appropriately extended to include also heavy quarks. The latter are treated in the heavy mass limit. The heavy baryon Faddeev equation is then solved using a static approximation for the ...
متن کاملTHE ROLE OF QUARK POLARIZATION IN HEAVY QUARK FRAGMENTATION
We calculate the exact fragmentation functions for c and b quark fragmentation taking into account the spin orientation of the initial heavy quark in the form of analytical and rather simple expressions. Our calculations show that spin orientation may have an important effect on the fragmentation spectrum. This effect is more striking in the cases of c ?D, D*; c? ? , ? , and ?B , B *.
متن کاملA Diquark Model for Baryons Containing One Heavy Quark
We present a phenomenological ansatz for coupling a heavy quark with two light quarks to form a heavy baryon. The heavy quark is treated in the heavy mass limit, and the light quark dynamics is approximated by propagating scalar and axial vector`diquarks'. The resulting eeective lagrangian, which incorporates heavy quark and chiral symmetry, describes interactions of heavy baryons with Goldston...
متن کاملFaddeev equation for heavy baryons in the quark–diquark picture
We derive the Faddeev equation for baryons containing a single heavy quark as an effective two–body equation containing quarks and diquarks. The quark interaction is assumed to originate from a Nambu-Jona-Lasinio type interaction, extended to include also heavy quarks which are treated in the heavy mass limit. From this we first estimate the light and heavy diquark properties and then present t...
